Greg Pence in Washington D.C. to Support Transportation Workers, Oppose Proxy Committee Work
Washington, DC – U.S. Congressman Greg Pence (IN-06) today attended a full Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing titled “On the Front Lines: The Impacts of COVID-19 on Transportation Workers,” and released the following statement:
“Hoosiers are showing up to work, so I’m showing up to work,” said Congressman Pence. “I attended a hearing today that discussed the heroes and frontline workers in the airline, shipping, trucking and rail industries who are stepping up to the plate for the American people. Yet Congress can’t come together to address the problems our nation faces. I was one of only six members who even showed up in person to the hearing.
America is coping with three serious issues: a viral pandemic, an economic crisis, and a serious social crisis. Every Member of Congress should return to Capitol Hill immediately so we can do the people’s business in the people’s house and do it in person.
Hoosiers of the Sixth District sent me to our nation’s capital to represent them, but if House Democrats refuse to involve Republicans in the drafting of legislation, how can I be a voice for my district?”
